Description
An officer’s chachka from the Dragoons of the Order of St Anne, “For Valour”,
1881 model, with a single-branch hilt in gilded bronze engraved on both sides in Cyrillic with the inscription ‘For Valour’, the pommel inlaid with the 4th-class insignia of the Order of St Anne in gilded bronze and red enamel, the tang is fluted blackened wood; the steel blade is decorated on one side with the double-headed imperial eagle and the mark of the Zlatoust arms factory. With its wooden scabbard covered in brown leather and gilded bronze fittings, inscribed at the top in Cyrillic: ‘As a memento, to the company commander, Second Captain V. M. Pouchkov, presented by the rank and file of the 4th Company, 1908’. Signs of wear and impact.
