Officer’s chachka of the Dragoons of the Order of Saint Anne “For Valour”, 1881 model, with a single-branch hilt in gilded bronze engraved on both sides in Cyrillic with the words “For Valour”, the pommel inlaid with the 4th-class insignia of the Order of St Anne in gilded bronze and red enamel, with its sword knot in the colours of the Order of St Anne and a tassel embroidered with silver thread, the tang in blackened, fluted wood; the steel blade decorated on one side with the double-headed imperial eagle and on the other with the date ‘1889’ within a rich border of foliage and interlacing patterns, the edge of the blade engraved in Cyrillic with the mark of the Zlatoust arms factory. With its wooden scabbard covered in brown leather and gilded bronze fittings. Signs of wear and impact. Russia, circa 1889.
