Description
Pallasch of a cuirassier officer of the Order of St Anne “For Valour”,
the four-pronged pommel, three of whose prongs are engraved in Cyrillic with the inscription “For Valour”, the pommel topped with a 4th-class insignia of the Order of St Anne in gilded bronze and red enamel, the front decorated with the cipher of Tsar Nicholas II and a frieze of laurel leaves, the guard bearing the maker’s mark “P. FOKIN” in Saint Petersburg, the steel blade marked on one side “FABRICA DE TOLEDO” and featuring the coats of arms of Castile and León, as well as the maker’s mark “PA. FOKIN”. The steel scabbard is probably a later addition. Signs of wear and impact.
