Description
Silver commemorative medal marking the reign of Emperor Nicholas I (1825–1855). The obverse depicts the left-facing profile of Nicholas I, surrounded by the inscription “Nicholas I, Emperor and Autocrat of All Russia”. On the reverse, in the centre, are the dates of his reign, 1825–1855, surrounded by the inscriptions: ‘In memory of the Tsar’ and ‘To those who served him faithfully’. Oxidation, signs of wear. With a modern ribbon. Russia, circa 1896. Diameter: 2.8 cm. Weight: 14.2 g. History The medal was established on 30 April 1896 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II to mark the centenary of the birth of Nicholas I.
