Description
Silver commemorative medal marking the storming of Akhoulgo in 1839,
featuring the cipher of Nicholas I on the obverse. The bail has been restored. With a ribbon in the colours of the Order of St George.

History
Established by a decree of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia on 5 September 1839, to reward those who took part in the siege and storming of Akhoulgo, a major episode in the Caucasian War (1817–1864). Between April and June 1840, 12,595 medals were struck at the St Petersburg Mint.
