Description
Bronze commemorative medal of the Crimean War of 1853–1856.
The obverse features the monograms of Emperors Nicholas I and Alexander II surmounting the years ‘1853–1854–1855–1856 ’; the reverse bears a quotation from the Book of Psalms: ‘In you, O Lord, we put our hope; let us never be put to shame’. Oxidation. With a modern ribbon in the colours of the Order of St Vladimir on a metal core.
Diameter 2.7 cm.
History
This medal was created on 26 August 1856 to commemorate the end of the Crimean War (1853–1856) and to mark the coronation of Tsar Alexander II.
