BOBROVSKI, Pavel Ossipovich (Бобровский, Павел Осипович, 1832–1905), Lieutenant-General of the General Staff. Part II: The Butyrsky Infantry Regiment (1700–1782). Grenadiers, Musketeers, Artillerymen and Light Infantry (Бутырскій пѣхотный полкъ). St Petersburg, V. S. Balachev Printing House (V. S. Balachev’s Printing House, Ekaterininsky Canal, 80), 1892. Compiled from archival documents and other original sources by Lieutenant-General of the General Staff P. O. Bobrovski, to mark the 250th anniversary of the Yerevan Life Grenadier Regiment, the oldest regular regiment of the Imperial Russian Army. 255 pages of text, followed by a separately paginated appendix (223 pages) containing the regiment’s numerical records, tables of composition and strength, and reports on military operations (e.g. the state of the Butyrsk Regiment in 1758, the Grodno campaign, etc.). Full publisher’s cardboard binding in navy blue percaline, with rich gilded and polychrome decoration on the cover, titles in ornate lettering, the intertwined monograms of Empress Maria Feodorovna and Tsar Alexander III on the front cover, the Cross of St George with ribbon, crossed muskets, and gilded foliage and garlands. Spine with faux raised bands decorated with gilded fillets and fleurons, gilded title, inscribed ‘Часть 2. Бутырскій пѣхотный полкъ 1700–1782’. Untrimmed edges. Large quarto format (34.5 x 28 cm). Good overall condition, gilding bright and crisp, a few pinholes and scattered foxing on the title page.
