History of the Knights of the Guard. 1724–1799–1899. PANTCHOULIDZEV, Sergei A. (1855–1917), former Knight of the Guard. To mark the centenary of the Regiment of the Knights of the Guard of Her Majesty Empress Marie Feodorovna. St Petersburg, Office for the Preparation of State Documents, 1899–1912. 3 volumes out of 4 (volumes II, III and IV; volume I, 1724–1799, missing): - Vol. II: 1901; - Vol. III: 1903, reign of Alexander I (1801–1825); - Vol. IV: 1912, with a frontispiece portrait of Nicholas II engraved by the Academician P. Ksidias and a dedication to the Emperor. Publisher’s bindings in ivory-coloured embossed cloth imitating leather, with silver-stamped title ‘Исторія Кавалергардовъ’, dates ‘1724–1899’ in red, and a gilt Maltese cross on the spine. Illustrated with reproductions of watercolours by A. Baldinger and N. Samokish, engraved portraits and statistical diagrams. Large quarto format (35 x 28 cm). Some scuffing to the caps and corners; interior generally fresh. A standard reference work on the Knights-Guards regiment, one of the most prestigious corps of the Imperial Russian Army.
