Commemorative book for the year 1895, published by the Military Printing House, Saint Petersburg, 769 pages. Cream-coloured cloth binding, decorated with a printed border and centred with the initials ‘MA’ beneath the imperial crown of Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (1853–1920) in silver, as is the clasp; gilt edges. 769 pages of text, various phototypes, notably of the young Tsar Nicholas II, his sister Xenia Alexandrovna Romanova and her husband Alexander Mikhailovich, known as Sandro. The book also includes a map of the railways and steamship routes in Imperial Russia, showing the regions of the military districts. Minor stains and tears. In-18 format. Ex-libris of the Coburg Bibliothek. Provenance A gift to Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia (1853–1920), Duchess Consort of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
