THE FIRST WORLD WAR – Nikolai Nikolaevich GOLOVINE (1875–1944). The Battle of Galicia. A collection of around forty documents relating to the outbreak of the First World War (summer 1914), intended to accompany Golovine’s book *The Battle of Galicia (First Period)* (Paris, 1930). The collection includes maps of military districts (Lublin, Tomaszów, Złoczów, Galicia), battle diagrams (the Great Battle of Galicia) and plans showing the concentration of troops during the summer of 1914. Also included are: - Strategic deployment of the Russian armies (diagram no. 1) - Deployment of the Austro-Hungarian armies, 7–20 August 1914 (diagram no. 3) - Russian railway network on the western frontier (diagram no. 6) - Austro-Hungarian railway network (diagram no. 7) - Plan of action for the South-Western Front based on General Alexeev’s memorandum (diagram no. 5) Varying dimensions: H. 56.6 x W. 90 cm (unfolded, for the largest); H. 22 x W. 14.5 cm (folded).
