‘MOSCOW. Views of the City’ — a photographic album of Moscow. State Publishing House of Fine Arts (IZOGIZ), Moscow, 1955. Black-and-white photographs with captions, with the photographer’s name given beneath each plate. Full camel-coloured leather folio binding; the upper cover features an embossed design depicting the Kremlin and the banks of the River Moskva, with the title ‘MOSCOW’ in ornamental embossed lettering; spine with decorative faux-ribbing, inscribed in the same manner. A diamond-shaped silver presentation plate inserted into the lower front cover, bearing a partially legible engraved cursive inscription: ‘To the Government of Paris from the Moscow Council, October 1981? ’ (‘To the Government of Paris, from the Moscow Soviet, October 1981’). Provenance Official presentation copy presented by the Moscow City Soviet (Моссовет) to the City of Paris in 1981.
