Colonel’s dolman of the 17th Chernigov Hussars Regiment, ‘of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna’ (from December 1907 to September 1911), then ‘of Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich’ (from September 1911 to 1917). Hussar tunic (dolman) in dark green woollen cloth, with plain gold cords and brandebourgs, stitched with orange and black thread and ending in trefoils; facings and collar with gold chevron braiding; colonel’s shoulder braids. With a silver-plated bronze insignia of the Elizavetgrad Cavalry School. Lining in cream and green silk, numbered 2263. Signs of wear, damage and missing sections. History This dolman is identical to the one worn by Grand Duke Michael when he was commander of the regiment (September 1909 to September 1911), and subsequently Head of the regiment (from September 1911 to 1917) (see illustration).
