Description
Junior officer’s uniform of the Jägerski Regiment of the Guard, 1881–1907. Double-breasted tunic in navy blue woollen cloth with concealed fastening (buttons missing), cream and red piping, red facings, collar embroidered with oak leaves in gold thread; buttons featuring the Imperial Eagle in gilded brass; with belt. Navy blue trousers with red piping. Epaulettes are missing. Signs of wear, damage and missing parts. INCLUDED is a matching officer’s chapka in black astrakhan, based on the 1878 model, and a pair of black leather boots (attached). Reign of Nicholas II. History The fur cap bears the silver enamelled St Andrew’s plaque for an officer, and above it, the regimental distinction band: ‘For Telich, 12 October 1877’, awarded following the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. The small cockade worn above is almost completely hidden. This regiment, the 4th of the First Division of the Guards’ Infantry, has retained its distinctive white piping as well as its characteristic embroidery on the collar and facings. Trousers were rather loose-fitting under Alexander III for foot soldiers, which would date our reconstruction to after 1906.
