Description
Winter ‘Venguerka’ cornette of the Grodno Hussars Regiment of the Guard, model for junior officers.
Made of dark green woollen cloth edged with black astrakhan, with 2 x 5 buttons bearing the imperial eagle in silver-plated brass, in the Hungarian style with brandebourgs in silver thread embroidered with orange and black. The shoulder braid indicates the rank of cornet (second lieutenant). Similar to the parade coat (trimmed with brown beaver fur), it is worn over the head as part of the everyday uniform and replaces the dolman. Signs of wear, damage and missing parts; sold as is.
Alexander III period.
