Naval officer’s full dress uniform, 1899 model. Double-breasted, in black woollen cloth lined with cream silk, with 2 × 6 buttons bearing an eagle and crossed anchors (dating from after 1904, the date of the privilege granted by Nicholas II) in gilded brass, with a pair of first lieutenant’s epaulettes (старший лейтенант, a rank created in 1909). The collar is straight and rounded, with gold and silver embroidery depicting an anchor surrounded by ropes on each side; straight sleeve facings with two embroidered buttonholes (each featuring an anchor surrounded by ropes), each fitted with a gilded button. On the chest, he wears the rank insignia of the Naval Cadet Corps (established on 19 April 1910). It is worn with an officer’s sash featuring a Navy buckle in gilded bronze with a fluted centre, surrounded by laurel and oak leaves and centred on a naval anchor, wrapped in rope and surmounted by an imperial crown. Signs of wear, damage and missing parts. Inside, stamped with the number 74134. Reign of Nicholas II.
