Description
Second Lieutenant’s tunic of the 1st Moscow Cadet Corps of Empress Catherine II (established in 1849), in full winter dress, 1907 model.
Made of ‘Tsar’s green’ woollen cloth with red piping, fastening with a single front panel on the left, featuring 2 x 6 gilded brass buttons bearing the imperial eagle on a radiating background reminiscent of the cadet corps’ badge, a stand-up collar in red cloth with black piping, embroidered with gold thread (oxidised) in interlaced patterns on the collar and sleeve cuffs; with a pair of officer’s epaulettes bearing the cipher of Catherine II in gilded metal, three silver-plated metal stars, blue piping, a gilded button and thick fringes of gilded cannetille. Lining in cream and black silk. Signs of wear, damage and losses; holes where the decorations were attached.
