Full dress uniform of a colonel in the St Petersburg Guards Regiment and of King Frederick William III (Лейб-гвардии Санкт-Петербургский полк Короля Фридриха Вильгельма III), 1907 model. Made of green woollen cloth, with a yellow front panel and yellow sleeve facings, yellow piping on the left side of the chest, with 2 x 7 buttons bearing the imperial eagle in silver-plated brass, a stand-up collar with silver embroidery, as on the sleeve cuffs featuring three motifs and three silver buttons (one of which is concealed). Beautiful silver epaulettes embroidered with the cipher of King Frederick William III of Prussia (1797–1840), a former ally of Alexander I against Napoleon, with a silver button and red piping, and fringes of silver thread. Signs of wear, damage and missing parts. Nicholas II era, 1907–1914. In the summer of 1914, following the declaration of war, the monograms of the enemy sovereigns were removed; subsequently, as the capital had changed its name, the regiment became known as ‘of Petrograd, of the Guard’ until 1917.
