A colonel’s aide-de-camp’s coat, in grey woollen cloth, with red piping on the left side of the chest, featuring 2 x 6 buttons bearing the imperial eagle in silver-plated brass, two flap pockets, red collar tabs with white piping and silver buttons, shoulder tabs with three silver braids on a red background and white colonel’s piping (without star). Signs of wear, damage and missing sections. Reign of Nicholas II. Notes The collar badges shown here are worn by members of His Majesty’s Entourage and aides-de-camp (adjutants) who are not part of the Entourage. The colonel’s epaulettes, lacking both a star and the Emperor’s cipher, also rule out the possibility that they originated from the Entourage. The absence of the letters ‘Гл. ш.’ precludes membership of the General Staff; this colonel-aide-de-camp could therefore come from a division, an army corps, etc. He could also be an aide-de-camp to a Grand Duke.
