Description
A rare general’s chapka from the 15th Ukrainian Hussar Regiment, the astrakhan-covered cap adorned on the front with a silver-plated brass plaque bearing the imperial eagle, topped by an officer’s cockade and crowned with a dress-uniform pompom made of silver-coloured metallic threads, sequins and cannetille, with orange and black wool on top. The blue cloth cap is edged with a wide silver cannetille braid in a herringbone pattern, forming a very ornate border with three longitudinal bands of the same braid, adorned with small Hungarian bows embroidered in silver thread. Internal white leather band. In good overall condition, with small holes in the upper braids. The chin straps are missing. Gilded maker’s stamp on the inside. Nicholas II period, 1907–1914.
