Cavalry general’s cap for everyday wear, 1909 model, made of scarlet woollen cloth edged with gold braid featuring wide chevrons, adorned with a front plate bearing the imperial eagle in gilded (oxidised) brass, black leather peak with an officer’s cockade (chocs) and a dress cap pompom made of silver thread with an orange and black woollen top, the upper border of braided gold thread ending at the back with a buckle (cavalry), the gold-coloured braided festoons are fastened by gold-coloured brass buttons bearing the imperial eagle; the chin straps are made of gold-coloured brass scales; the visor is of black leather edged with gold-coloured brass. Minor tears to the inner silk lining; signs of wear to the leather, particularly on the visor, but in good overall condition. Gilded stamp on the inside from the Economic Society of the Guard.
