Parade cap
of the Litovsky (Lithuanian) Regiment of the Guard, 1909 model.
Made of ‘Tsar’s green’ woollen cloth (tending towards black, particularly for the lower ranks) with a yellow cloth lower band and yellow piping; the front is adorned with a large plaque of the Order of St Andrew in silver-plated metal with polychrome enamel (one point missing), bearing in its centre the motto ‘За Веру и Верность ’ (For Faith and Loyalty), surmounted by a metal scroll bearing the honorary inscription ‘За Филиппополь 4 Января 1878 года ’ (“For Philippopolis (Plovdiv), 4 January 1878”) in recognition of his conduct during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, without a cockade; the top of the kiver is covered by a black patent-leather cap, edged with white braid with yellow piping, a small conical pompom made of braided white threads, chinstraps with silver-plated scales, attached to metal rosettes, the visor made of black patent leather. Signs of wear, particularly on the visor and chin strap; some parts may have been replaced; some sections are missing.
