Description
A Kiver from the dress uniform of an officer in the Kexholmski Regiment of the Emperor’s Guard, 1909 model. Made of blue woollen cloth with a sky-blue lower band and yellow piping, the front is adorned with a large enamelled metal plaque of the Order of St Andrew, bearing in its centre the motto ‘За Веру и Верность ’ (For Faith and Loyalty); the metal scroll bearing the honorary inscription ‘За отличие’ (For Distinction) for its conduct during the 1814 campaign is missing from above; the top of the kiver is covered by a black patent leather cap, edged with gold braid for officers, without a plume, with silver-plated scale-patterned chinstraps attached to metal rosettes, the visor is of black patent leather; at the back, the silver-threaded ‘étichket’ is attached to silver-plated brass buttons bearing the double-headed imperial eagle and ending in two tassels (kutas) of silver filigree.
