for an officer of the Nicolas Cavalry School, 1909 model.
Made of ‘Tsar’s green’ woollen cloth, with gold thread braiding along the upper edge and gold cord along the top and bottom edges, red piping along the top edge, a black leather peak edged with gilded brass, adorned with a radiating gilded copper front plate centred on a silver-plated St Andrew’s cross with polychrome enamel, surmounted by an officer’s cockade and a small-dress metal pompon made of metal threads, cannetilles and sequins, top in orange and black wool, chinstraps in gilded brass scales, gilded brass buttons featuring the Imperial Eagle securing a double gilded cord. Signs of wear and minor imperfections, a few tears in the brown leather on the inside.
