Description
Cap ribbon from the battleship “Saint Andrew the First-Called”, made of black silk taffeta, bearing the inscription “андрей первозванный” in Cyrillic in gold lettering at the centre, with gold anchor motifs at the ends. Slight tears. Russia, early 20th century. H. 3.5 x W. 136 cm. History Built in the early 1900s, commissioned in 1906 and assigned to the Baltic Fleet from 1910, it saw little action during the Great War due to constant repairs; it was attacked by the Royal Navy in 1919 and was officially scrapped in 1925.
