Set of three mismatched epaulettes bearing the cipher of Tsar Nicholas II, on the left, an epaulette of a Major-General of the Mounted Grenadiers and Artillery with gold zigzag braid and the Tsar’s cipher embroidered in silver thread, in the centre, a shoulder strap for a second lieutenant in the Guard Cavalry Regiment with gold braid, red piping and the Tsar’s cipher and star embroidered in silver thread, on the right, a shoulder strap of a colonel of the Knight-Guards Regiment or the Imperial Retinue, with silver braid, red piping and the cipher embroidered in gold thread. Signs of wear. Russia, late 19th–early 20th century. H. 15.5 cm.
