RARE OFFICER’S COLLAR PLATE FROM THE PREOBRAJENSKY REGIMENT OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD Officer’s collar plate, second model of 1910, in silver-plated metal, gilded brass and gilded bronze, featuring in the centre the Cross of Saint Andrew the First-Called surmounted by the polychrome enamelled Imperial Crown, surrounded by two palm branches, surmounted by the dates marking the regiment’s founding, the 150th anniversary of the regiment’s service in the Guard, and the bicentenary of the regiment “1683–1850–1883”, with the inscription “1700 / NO. 19” commemorating the Battle of Narva on 19 November 1700. On the reverse, a protective red felt plate inscribed in Cyrillic with “13 V 1910 / Lieutenant Von Den / commander of the 8th Company”. Preserved in its original light-coloured wooden case, shaped to fit and bearing the stamp of the Economic Society of the Guard on the inside, and lined with blue velvet. Russia, Nicholas II era, circa 1910. No visible markings. H. 15 x W. 18.5 cm. Provenance According to the handwritten inscription on the reverse, this collar guard may have belonged to Gueorgui Gueorguievitch von Dehn (1878–1932), a career officer from the hereditary nobility of Estonia. After training in the artillery, he was transferred in 1906 to the prestigious Preobrazhensky Guards Regiment, where he served first as a lieutenant and then as a captain. By May 1910, he was already a member of the officer corps of this elite unit of the Russian Imperial Guard, before being confirmed in the rank of captain in 1911.
