A superb flagstaff of the Imperial Guard, 1830 model, in finely chiselled gilded bronze depicting the double-headed imperial eagle with, at its centre, a shield showing Saint George slaying the Dragon, resting on an orb and clutching in its talons a laurel wreath and thunderbolts, set upon a column decorated with water leaves. In fine condition, with slight wear and oxidation. Mounted on a modern light-coloured wooden base. Russia, 1830–1875. H. 27 cm.
