Mosin-Nagant infantry rifle, 1891 model, with walnut stock, steel fittings, bearing the manufacturer’s mark ‘New England / Westinghouse Company’ and the date ‘1915’, with the inspection mark of the Tula Arms Factory. With its leather sling. Signs of wear. United States, New England Westinghouse Company for Russia, 1915. Serial No.: 124651 L. 130 cm Background Faced with the enormous demand generated by the First World War, the Russian arsenals at Tula, Izhevsk and Sestroretsk were no longer sufficient to meet demand, so the imperial government ordered more than 1.8 million Mosin-Nagant rifles from the American companies Remington and New England Westinghouse between 1915 and 1917. The weapons produced by Westinghouse, such as this example, were inspected by Russian officials and marked with imperial hallmarks, notably the famous Tula hammer. Category C Weapon classified as Category ‘C’ under Decree No. 2018-542 of 29 June 2018, and subject to declaration. The purchaser MUST present their identity card and a valid hunting licence or shooting licence, along with their SIA number, and their details must be checked against the FINIADA database. Weapon registration fee: €20 (including VAT).
