History
When the Mosin-Nagant rifle was adopted in 1891, the Russian imperial armouries were unable to meet the army’s requirements immediately. The Russian government therefore entrusted part of the production to the Châtellerault Arms Factory in France, which manufactured nearly 500,000 rifles between 1892 and 1895. These weapons, produced to Russian standards and intended exclusively for the Russian Empire, now stand as a remarkable testament to Franco-Russian industrial cooperation in the late 19th century.
