Icon, Russia, 19th century. Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Bishop of Myra in Lycia Tempera on wood, set in a gilded copper oklad with engraved decoration. Set in a large gilded carved wooden frame in the form of a kiot, decorated with vine tendrils. Some wear. H. 22.5 x W. 18 cm (icon) H. 43 x W. 31.5 cm (frame) Provenance: Private collection, Paris XVI Icon, Russia, 19th century Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, Myra in Lycia Wood, tempera. Gilded copper mount with engraved decoration. The icon is set in a wide, carved gilded wooden frame, decorated with a vine motif. Minor wear. Dimensions of the icon: height 22.5 cm; width 18 cm. Dimensions of the shrine: height 43 cm; width 31.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Paris, 16th arrondissement.
