Description
Two ‘cartagloria’ frames, Italy; late 18th – early 19th century; patinated bronze
- A moulded frame in cast and chiselled bronze, richly decorated with volutes, foliage motifs and cartouches in the Rococo style; a central mixtilinear opening and a moulded base. Dark patina with widespread oxidation and traces of verdigris. Dimensions: 36 x 30 cm. - Cast and chiselled bronze lectern, supported by a circular base and a turned stem, with a rectangular frame surmounted by a cornice featuring foliage motifs and volutes in the Baroque style. In the centre, under glass, an illuminated inscription in Latin bearing the liturgical text of the consecration of the wine (Hic est enim calix sanguinis mei…). Dark patina with traces of wear and superficial oxidation. Dimensions: 29 x 15 cm.
