Description
Pair of Chinese baluster vases, late 19th century 44 x 21 cm
With a globular body and a tapered neck, these porcelain vases are decorated using the reserve technique with floral and plant motifs in polychrome blue and red/orange, with gilding characteristic of the ‘Imari’ style. Elaborate gilded bronze mount with a base shaped with volutes and cartouches, a foliage-patterned handle, and zoomorphic handles (dragons/sea monsters) connected to the collar and base. French-made mount, Napoleon III period, second half of the 19th century. Signs of wear and slight abrasions.
