Description
SINO-TIBET, 19th century
Gilded bronze group representing the tantric deity Yamantaka in his wrathful bovid-headed form, depicted standing in the alidhasana position striking down his enemies, as well as in yab-yum with his parèdre the goddess Vajravetali, on a double lotus-shaped base. The figure, with multiple arms arranged in a fan shape, holds various ritual attributes in each of her hands. The body is adorned with numerous jewels, garlands of severed heads and chased bracelets, the head adorned with a five-pointed tiara decorated with inlays of semi-precious stones and topped with a stylised flame hairstyle.
