Description
GALLE Emile (1846-1904) A "Fôret Lorraine" chest of drawers with a walnut frame richly carved with plant motifs, panels inlaid with floral compositions, bronze plant handles with a medal patina, the interior fitted with shelves and drawers. Inlaid "Gallé" signature. Complete with its two original keys (one broken, drawer lock seized). Condition: Very slight scratches from use or minor knocks. 108 x 79 x 56 cm Note: Model presented at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. The Musée d'Orsay has another version of this desk, with a marquetry after verses by Charles Baudelaire (inv. OAO 1434).
