Description
Beretta S03 EELL side-by-side shotgun, special order, double-barrelled, 12/70 calibre, ejectors. Over-and-under barrels with ventilated bands, marked ‘ESPRESSAMENTE COSTRUITO PER IL DOTTOR … D. (sic)’ on one side and the signature ‘Carlo Beretta’ on the other. Firing plates and receiver finely engraved with foliage and pheasants, signed on one firing plate ‘G.Timpini’ and dated ‘1977’. Marked beneath the receiver ‘P.BERETTA GARDONE V.T.’ Openwork and engraved opening key, decorated in gold with a royal crown on top. Double trigger. Stock in grained walnut (striped). Barrel length: 71 cm Overall length: 116 cm In its original Beretta carrying case, with original documentation. Category C No. A050788 RGA: BN110 Expert: Arnaud de Gouvion Saint-Cyr Provenance: Presented to its owner by Beretta: Dr D., a leading specialist in corneal transplants, had operated on Beretta’s sales director. To thank him for having “saved his sight”, he presented him with this magnificent shotgun. On this occasion, Dr D. and his wife were invited to visit the factory; the engraving on the receiver was applied in their presence and Carlo Beretta himself signed the shotgun. Enclosed with this rifle is the typewritten accompanying letter drawn up for the occasion by Beretta on 23 January 1978, in which it is stated that only two models of this rifle were ever produced: ours and the one presented to mark the Queen of England’s jubilee (see the amusing notes, in which he points out that Dr D.’s example features a far finer finish to the engravings) To purchase Category C firearms subject to registration, the purchaser must provide proof of identity and a valid hunting licence for the current year (or the previous year), or a valid shooting licence (or one from the previous year). Category C firearms will only be issued following a check against the FINIADA register (National Register of Persons Prohibited from Acquiring and Possessing Firearms). If the purchaser of a Category C firearm is listed in the FINIADA register, the sale will automatically be deemed void. The purchaser must sign the digital police register and complete a CERFA form. Since February 2022, purchasers of Category C rifles must hold a SIA account; please ensure you have this in place before bidding. Please ensure you have all the necessary information before bidding. N.B.: Hunting or shooting weapons are sold as is, without warranty; no claims will be considered once the lot has been awarded, as the prior viewing has allowed buyers to examine the items, handle them and take all necessary measures.
