Emile VERANNEMAN (1924–2003) Coffee table with a glass top featuring rounded edges and a beige lacquered wooden base. Original edition specially designed for the former owners, friends of the designer. Replacement glass top, identically reproduced at Saint-Gobain based on the original model. 45 x 151 x 45 cm (Slight wear and minor paint chips) Included are the original drawing, drawn and signed by the designer; a signed greeting card featuring a period photograph; and a ‘Picasso’ catalogue from the Veranneman gallery. Emile Veranneman is a leading figure in Belgian design, renowned in particular for his woodwork. Our coffee table is a unique piece that epitomises the designer’s work, blending traditional craftsmanship with modernity and clean lines. As Pierre Kjellberg points out in his book on 20th-century furniture, “every piece created by Veranneman is an example of the perfect harmony between form and function”.
