ZANDE, HAUT-UELE; DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO,
Azande ‘Kundi’ harp. The soundbox is entirely covered with a
sewn antelope skin. The pointed protrusions are typical of Zande instrument-making.
The lower end terminates in a pronounced point. The neck is elegantly curved
and ends in a stylised head. A hole at the base of the neck is provided for a
carrying strap.
Beautiful dark, glossy patina. Mid-20th century
