Important Deblé Janus pilon statue representing a couple (man/woman) standing back to back and sharing several anatomical parts (headdress, braids, neck, back and buttocks). The elbows of the two statues meet and the hands rest on the tops of the thighs. Hardwood with a beautiful brown patina from ceremonial use. A rare sculpture of very fine workmanship, used in the Poro society for protection, initiation and funerary purposes.
