Very old wooden arec nut mortar with a long ritual patina and remains of ochre pigments. It was carved with a stone tool and features four figures of ancestors in a solid seated position, supporting the bowl on their heads. Together with betel, the areca nut was eaten crushed by the elders of the clan when their teeth failed them.
