Size: 34 cm.
Provenance: Former Guy Seghers collection (Belgium). Collected in Papua New-
Guinea between 1970 and 1980 during scientific missions linked to the Leopold III Biological Station on Laing Island.

Adornment necklace consisting of a large polished shell suspended from a braided cord of
plaited plant fibres. This type of ornament was worn as a distinctive sign of the value placed on marine
