Provenance: Acquired from the Livraria e Galeria Sá da Costa art gallery, central Lisbon, in the late
1990's, then Belgian private collection.

This container, designed to hold powder, medicine or snuff, depicts a Mawia male head
head, recognisable by its geometric facial scarring and stylised hairstyle.
