Description
BURMA, 18th century
Bronze sculpture with a light brown, golden-brown patina, depicting the Buddha seated on a tall, tiered base. The right hand is in the bhumisparsa mudra, known as the ‘touching the earth’ gesture, whilst the left hand holds the mirobolant fruit. The face, imbued with serenity and with half-closed eyes, is surmounted by a flamed finial.
