The yidam is depicted in yabyum with his parèdre Vajra Vetali, his thirty-two arms fanned out around his body and holding various attributes. His main arms hold a kapala and a kartika ritual cleaver. The sealed base incised with a double Vajra. H. 25 cm high Notice: Vajrabhairava is a wrathful form of the bodhisattva Mañjushrī, and occupies a central place in Tantric Buddhism as a meditation deity (yidam). He comes under the highest tantric classification, that of the Anuttarayoga Tantra, where he is a direct support for spiritual realisation. As the principal deity of meditation, Vajrabhairava belongs to the class of Vajrabhairava and Yamāri tantras. These tantras are attached to the category of method tantras, also called father tantras, within the Anuttarayoga Tantra. This classification emphasises the direct transformation of the most subtle mental forces and the powerful use of wisdom to annihilate fundamental ignorance.
