A "KUNDIKA" OR "JEONGBYEONG" BUDDHIC RITUAL BRONZE JUG, with a brown and green patina, forming a sprinkler for lustral water, with a slender body and a spout that closes with a flap, the long, slender neck highlighted at mid-height with a disc-shaped protuberance (small dent on the body).(A BRONZE RITUAL "KUNDIKA" OR "JEONGBYEONG" EWER, KOREA, 11TH-12TH CENTURIES.HEIGHT. 39 CM (15 3/8 IN.)Note: This type of jug, with its rather characteristic shape, was used to purify sacred spaces and invoke deities, principally Avalokiteshvara, with whom this ritual vessel was associated in Korean Buddhism.Several Western museums have a similar object in their collections, including the Musée Guimet in Paris, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Metropolitan Museum of New York in the United States.
