BEAUTIFUL JIFU "DRAGON" DRESS in kesi silk on a blue background, with polychrome and gold woven decoration of nine five-clawed dragons, four of them depicted in the front, on the chest, back and shoulders, the other five in profile, chasing flaming jewels among numerous auspicious motifs such as lingzhi, bats and precious objects, on a background decorated with a checkerboard of swastika. The lower part is occupied by a wide band of lishui surmounted by foaming waves from which emerge various auspicious symbols including the sacred peaks of the Earth, placed on the four axes of the robe and symbolising the cardinal points.(Small tears and pulled threads).China, Qing period, 19th century.A NICE SILK KESI "DAGON" JIFU DRESS, CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY.HEIGHT. 132 CM (52 IN.) - WIDTH.
