Description
* CHINA, 18th century
A baluster-shaped bronze vase with a slender body and rounded shoulders, resting on a small flared foot and topped by a neck that flares slightly at the opening, flanked by two side handles in the shape of chimera masks. The body is finely decorated with a silver-inlaid design depicting dragons winding their way through stylised clouds above turbulent waves, with a Greek fret frieze emphasising the neck. A ‘Shishou’ mark comprising two characters is inlaid beneath the base.
