India, Travancore (present-day Kerala), early 20th century. Early illustrated postcard from Travancore, a princely state of British India, with printed inscriptions in English and Malayalam. There is a substantial amount of handwritten text on the reverse, written entirely in Malayalam, covering the entire correspondence. Travancore postmarks in Malayalam are present, as well as postal routing marks. An interesting insight into the postal and linguistic history of Kerala during the colonial era. The descriptions are based on our interpretation of the postmarks and handwritten inscriptions, which are sometimes difficult to decipher; they are provided in good faith and without guarantee.
