JAPAN MEIJI PERIOD (1868–1912) Lidded tripod vase in iron with gold and silver inlays, Komai; the globular body is decorated with two cartouches depicting pavilions and houses set against lakeside landscapes dotted with trees, The lid, base and feet are embellished with geometric motifs and enlivened by medallions decorated with calabashes and flowers; the neck is adorned with bunches of grapes; the handles are shaped like inverted ‘U’s; the underside bears the character ‘Raku’.
