TIBET 18TH CENTURY A large gilded bronze statue of Palden Lhamo, seated on her mule, brandishing a khatvanga and a kapala. The dharmapala, with a wrathful expression, is adorned with skulls and snakes. She is accompanied by her two attendants leading her mount, Makaramukha and Simhamukha. The eyes of the deity, the mule and the attendants are highlighted with silver and black stone. The whole stands on a broad lotus-shaped base that is partially openwork. The base is sealed and incised with a double vajra. H. 31 cm Description: Palden Lhamo (Shri Devi in Sanskrit) is particularly revered within the Gelugpa school.
