Description
China, Yuan period (1271-1368) A Meiping porcelain and cobalt blue underglaze vase, decorated on the body with four peony flowers in full bloom and eight lotus flowers among foliage. The lower part of the vase is decorated with large lotus panels with cloud motifs in the form of ruyi. The neck is decorated with two friezes, one in the form of stylised petals with precious objects and Buddhist emblems (sacred jewel, conch shell, conjoined carp, double sapèque, coral branches), the other with garlands of spirals. H. 42 cm (Neck and base missing, neck cracked, old restoration to the body)
